Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC)
Program Outline
The main goal of this program is to train students to become pattern makers specialized in using powerful software to help them create clothing.
The pattern maker assists heads of production in creating, detailing and refining concepts conceived by the creative team, and assures product quality. The pattern maker produces computerized patterns that can easily be transferred to different sections of the business' production department, whether they be in Québec, elsewhere in Canada or abroad.
An integral part of the pattern makers' duties is to assist the designer in creating collections, at intervals predetermined by the company for which they are working. The program is designed to train graduates to deal with their primary on-the-job challenge: producing collections adapted to the ever-changing needs of their company's clientele, within a very short period. The program trains them to find the optimum solution taking into consideration these temporal and logistic constraints in the context of the creative process.
The program turns out top-drawer professionals who are autonomous, versatile and more than competence in computerassisted patternmaking. You are trained in problem solving and creating concrete, profitable solutions to production challenges.
This program does, therefore, offer our graduates a considerable advantage on the marketplace (including the tools to manage their own career, or start their own business), as well as better career possibilities in pattern making.
