Program Outline

This 810-hour, 16-month program makes a connection between new computer technologies and employment possibilities.

Throughout their training, students learn an information system and acquire skills using several media in an interactive way, in an online or off-line computerized environment.

The Interior Design program will enable learners to acquire real-world skills related to understanding clients' needs in terms of the design and layout of interior spaces, devise solutions, draw sketches and plans for an interior space according to the chosen solutions and in accordance with the relevant codes, advise with regard to the choice of colours, materials, and furnishings, as well as overseeing the project's execution in keeping with the plans and estimates.

 
 

Upon completion of their training as interior designers, the students will have the ability to find creative solutions to problems related to the design and layout of interior spaces in the aim of improving quality of life and the work environment.

This training program represents:

 
24 hours of coursework (self-paced learning, virtual evening classes) and individual work per week.

Holders of an AEC in Interior Design may be hired to work for specialized companies and participate in creating and laying out functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces; they may practice any of the following professions:

Self-employed designers
Junior designers in interior design firms, architectural firms and residential construction companies
Consultants working for interior decorating and furniture stores
Sales representatives for paint or floor finishing manufacturers

Windows 2000 Professionnel or XP operating system.
512 MB RAM.
40 GB free disk space for installation.
High-speed Internet access.
Internet Explorer 6.0 browser.
1024 x 768 resolution VGA monitor.
Sound card.
Headphones and microphone.
The application software and peripherals required for the individual course.
Burner.
Blank CD-ROMs / DVDs.
Flat scanner.
Colour printer.

¹ Unlimited Internet access and a high-speed modem are recommended in order to avoid disconnection during a training session.
